Joan E Seguin, 71, of Marcy passed away peacefully on Friday March 11th, 2016 at Faxton St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born June 28th, 1944, daughter of Walter & Helen (Basmajian) Hotaling. Joan attended the Whitesboro schools. On February 14th 1963, she was united in marriage Daniel W. Seguin Sr., They were blessed with 53 loving years together. Joan was a grocery cashier for the last 30 years most recently the last 12 years at Chanatry’s Supermarket. A special thank you to Mark Chanatry & Family and all her co-workers for their love, care & support. Joan will be remembered for her friendly smile, kind heart and incredible sense of humor. Most important to Joan was the time spent with her family, especially their yearly cruises, frequent trips to Atlantic City, camping and playing bingo. In her free time she enjoyed driving her Mustang. She and her sister enjoyed spending time at Vernon Downs where they had once owned a race horse whom her daughter Debbie trained and drove. She also loved Sunday dinners at Shelley’s house and her Friday night Fish Fry’s at the Celtic Harp. Joan is survived by her beloved husband Daniel, four children, Shelley Longo and fiancee Christopher Wittman, of Deerfield, Debbie DiViccaro and Scott Rowan, of Utica, Daniel Seguin Jr., of Marcy and Craig Seguin, of Marcy, seven grandchildren Alisa & Tressa Longo, Anthony, Andrew & Michael DiVicccaro, and Brandon & Nicole Seguin and one cherished great grandson James Longo. Very close and dear to Joan’s heart are her sister’s children, the Lane family, David, Robert, Tammy, Lori, Bonnie and Mark and their spouses and children. Extended family and friends include Jim Longo, Angelo DiViccaro, Bev Seguin, the Caldwell families, Bob Basmajian, Shirley Doucet, Kyle Eisnor, Mallory Shannon and Belma Tatarevic. Joan was predeceased by her sister Beverly Lane. Mrs. Seguin’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 11:00 at St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Monday (today) from 4-8. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the 6th floor staff at Faxton St. Luke’s for all the loving care given to Joan.
