Rosemary Giffune Welch, 64, of Marcy, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. Rosemary was born in Utica on March 28, 1951, the daughter of Doreen (Risk) Giffune and the late Michael E. Giffune. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Rosemary was united in marriage to Christopher G. Welch where they would of celebrated 37 years of marriage this year. Rosemary was employed with the Hartford Insurance Co. for several years then later in the Administration Office at Utica College. Rosemary took great pride in taking care of her family, such as taking care of her brother-in-law Edward Dunn during his illness as well as other heartfelt acts. Her greatest joy of all was her love for her grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher, her mother, Doreen Giffune, two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gina Welch, of Marcy and Jason Welch, of Marcy, four cherished grandchildren, Michael Christopher Welch, Nicholas Frank Welch, Noelle Marie Welch and John Anthony Welch. Brother in-law Patrick Welch, Mark and Janet Welch, Peter and Marcia Welch and their beloved children. Uncle Tony and Janet Ashworth of England. Cousins Carol and Maurice Issac, Geraldine and John Pallaria, and their families. Many special cousins and close friends. Rosemary was predeceased by her father Michael Giffune, her brother-in-law Lawerence Welch, her sister and brother-in-law, Yvette and Edward Dunn, her in-laws Francis X. and Ione Welch. Special aunt’s and uncle’s, Andrew and Catherine Loconti, Godfather Gerry and Josephine DePaul. At Rosemary’s request, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2:00 at St. Mark's Church, North Utica. The family will greet friends and family at the conclusion of the mass. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for all the compassion, kindness and excellent care given to Rosemary at this difficult time.
