Josephine A. Cosco, 94, of the Presbyterian Home and formerly of Whitesboro passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Josephine was born in Maple Grove, MI on January 14, 1922, the youngest of 12 children of Joseph and Anna (Lietz) Amman. Josephine proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy she met her future husband Joseph N. Cosco and the couple were married on January 14, 1946 at Treasure Island, CA. They shared a blessed union of 54 years, until his death on October 7, 2000. For many years until her retirement Josephine was employed with General Electric. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro, where she was a lector, member of the Altar Rosary Society and taught religion. Josephine also belonged to the Third Order of St. Francis and Friends of the Dunham Public Library. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Josephine was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and will always be remembered for her joyful personality. Josephine is survived by her four children, Gloria Nardini and her husband, Robert, of Nashville, TN, Joseph R. Cosco and his wife, Linda, of New York Mills, Chris Cosco, of Liverpool, NY and Stephen Cosco and wife, LoriAnn, of Westmoreland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Josephine was predeceased by her 11 siblings. Mrs. Cosco's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4-6. Please omit flowers. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. or The House of The Good Shepherd.
