Obituary of James F. Horth

James F. Horth, 84, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Health Care after a brief illness. Jim was born in Utica on March 3, 1933, a son of John M. and Alice (Boone) Horth. Jim graduated from St. Francis de Sales Grammar School in 1947 and Utica Free Academy in 1951. At Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, on November 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Stein. Jim worked in the office of Divine Brothers for 20 years and later was payroll manager at Hamilton College in Clinton for 25 years retiring in 1998. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanne, a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Matthew Mees, of Braintree, MA, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Daniel and Susan (Niet) Horth, of New Hartford, four wonderful granddaughters, Madeleine Mees, Eleanor Mees, Meghan Dote and husband, Joe, and Mackenzie Williams and Greg Coloia and two great grandsons, Sawyer and Riley Dote. Jim was predeceased by four brothers, John (Jack), Gerald, Richard and Earl Horth and two sisters, Alice Roller and Ellen Lemieux. Mr. Horth’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. and 10:00 from Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 – 7. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Memorial Fund at Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa.
