David R. Coons, Sr., 85, a resident of the Katherine Luther Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, formerly of Utica, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the nursing home. David was born October 25, 1930 in Canastota, NY. He had been employed with K& K Contracting in Waterville. David was a former member of First Presbyterian Church. David is survived by eight children, Patty (& Derick) Ward, Utica, Brenda Warden (& husband, Bobby Varin), Gloversville, NY, Cyndi (& Mousa) Nesheiwat, Poughkeepsie, NY, David, Jr. (& Julie) Coons, Whitesboro, Linda (& Dave) Bachard, Lynn, MA, Brian (& Carol Ann) Coons, Whitesboro, David J. Coons, Rome, Lori (& Todd) Prime, Oppenheim, NY. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as his ex-wife (& her companion, Paul Babitz), Utica, both of which he remained close friends. Mr. Coons’ funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 5:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. Interment will take place privately at Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica.
