Mr. David Lavier, 70, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Utica passed away on Thursday December 10, 2015 in Phoenix. David was born in Malone, NY, raised in Rome and Town of Ohio and attended Poland schools. For over 25 years, David was employed with the City of Utica Department of Public Works. He was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants Fan and enjoyed playing the card game, pitch. Mr. Lavier is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lavier; his three children, Lisa and Stuart Fowler, Paula Zaleski and James Brady and Brian and Denise Lavier; three step-children, William and Stephaney Gouse, Richard and Bridgett Gouse and Stacie and Anthony Abbruzzio; two brothers, William and Terry Lavier and Alfred and Eileen Lavier; a special friend, Kevin Smith from Phoenix, and the mother of his children, Mary Ellen Kowiatek. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his canine companions, Baxter and Gizmo. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Leona Lavier, his sister, Juliette Pratt and nephew, Sgt. Aaron Lavier. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. In lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in David's memory.
