Frances E. Spinella, 90, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, formerly of Clinton, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the nursing home. Fran was born in Utica on August 14, 1925, the daughter of Michael and Burtris Massago. She was raised and educated in Utica. On November 12, 1949, Fran married Angelo F. Spinella in St. Joseph’s Church, Utica. Mr. Spinella passed away in 2012. Fran had been employed with UNIVAC in Utica. She was an avid NY Yankee fan, and in her younger years, enjoyed bowling. Fran is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie Spinella of Massachusetts, Patricia and Scott Miller of Rome, Rosalie Clark of New Hartford, and Richard Loftus of Massachusetts; ten cherished grandchildren, Cory Loftus, Jason Loftus, Kelly Anderson, Steven Miller, Michael Miller, David Miller, John Charles, Jeremy Charles, Jamie Charles and Stacey Charles and fourteen adored great grandchildren, Aili, Andy, Toby, Gabe, Tristian, Isabella, Carter, Jacob, Cameron, Taylor, Morgan, Justin, Harper, and Hadley. Also surviving is one sister, Dorothy Gagnon, of Clark Mills. Besides her husband, Fran is predeceased by a daughter, Karen Loftus in 2015, as well as by two sisters, Shirley Polizzi and Betty Dobrinski, and a brother, Robert Massago. Mrs. Spinella’s funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Those wishing may donate to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association in Fran’s memory. The family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Presbyterian Residential Community as well as the Elm Wing of the Presbyterian Home for the love and care shown to Fran during her stay.
