Salvatore F. Sbiroli, 83, of New York Mills passed away at home on Sunday, November 22, 2015, with his loving family by his side. Salvatore was born in Utica on March 4, 1932, a son of the late Anthony and Donato (Gurerro) Sbiroli. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1950 graduate of Proctor High School. Salvatore proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. In Clayville, NY in 1981, Salvatore was united in marriage to Susan Schloop. For many years until his retirement, he was employed with Special Metals. Salvatore was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica and a 3rd Degree Mason of the Utica Masonic Lodge #47. He was a talented artist and always enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Salvatore is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Susan, his five children, Anthony R. Sbiroli and wife, Renee, of Marcy, Barbara Guarascio and husband, James, of SC, Suzanne Sbiroli, of Utica, Kelly Montanaro and husband, Joseph, of Utica and Diane Sbiroli, of OK, a stepson, James Horgan, of FL, two sisters, Anna Stein and husband, Sherman, of Marcy and Dorothy Oaksford, of Oneida and his good friend, Rich Burnett, of New York Mills. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Salvatore was predeceased by a step daughter, Kelly Horgan and a brother, Philip Sbiroli. Mr. Sbiroli's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 10:00 from Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica. There are no calling hours. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those so wishing may make donations to Historic Old St. John's Memorial or Scholarship Funds.
