Obituary of Ann D. Conley
Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peacefully, on November 19, 2015, the unique and beautiful spirit of Ann D. Conley, departed this world from her home with her family around her.
Ann was born in Watertown, NY, on August 10, 1926, the daughter of John and Alice Delaney Donoghue. After graduation from Chestnut Hill College, she married her beloved husband, the late Charles C. Conley, in 1950. Together, they devoted their lives to raising their 10 children in Clinton, NY. Mrs. Conley was a homemaker, a counselor at St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing, an English teacher at Notre Dame High School, a volunteer with Books for the B.lind, a past President of the St. Elizabeth’s Guild and a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She will be remembered for her love of family, literature, costumes, and bridge. Her ability to recite poetry continued to amaze, even as she approached her 90th year.
Ann is survived by her children: Chris (Jeanne), Tony (Diane), Maureen (Tom Daley), Julie Milograno (Michael Britton) Charlotte (Terry Daley), Matt (Mary Jo Ferrare), Phil (Sherry Robinson), Margaret (Chris Tolhurst), Claire (Bill Burns) and Mary (Joe St.Thomas). She will live on through her 19 loving grandchildren and their spouses: Brian (Ashley) and Michael Conley, Christy (Brooks) Harger; Katie (Chad) Cornish, Bridget (Tom) Conlin, Meghan and Terry Daley; Alicia and Michael Milograno, Beth (Patrick) Berry; Phil, Laura and Tim Daley; Ben and Eric Tolhurst; Conley and Delaney Burns; and Eli and Molly St. Thomas. The recent additions to the family of great-granddaughters Eve Cornish and Charlie Anna Conley brought great happiness to Great Grandma. Ann is also survived by her dear brother and his wife, Richard P. and Maureen Donoghue, and many treasured nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Jean Donoghue.
Mrs. Conley’s funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Monday evening, from 4 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to Hospice of New Hartford, NY, or St. Mary’s Cemetery Association, Clinton, NY.
The family is especially thankful to and humbled by our brother Matthew Conley. His gentle and generous care of our mother gave us many more years in which to enjoy her.
