Harold (Butch) Cornell, 76, of North Utica passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015, in the ICU of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born in Rome, a son of the late Ernest and Vivian (Baxter) Cornell. He was raised and educated in Cooperstown, NY and was a graduate of Cooperstown High School. In Binghamton, NY on March 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Stancik. For many years Butch worked in the grocery business then until his retirement, he was a Territorial Sales Manager for Sunshine Foods. Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman and always enjoyed boating and traveling. Butch is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen, a son, Michael Cornell and wife Audrey, of FL, a daughter Sandy Kelsey, of North Utica, three grandchildren, Renee' Werner and husband, Joe, of Rome, Kristen Kelsey and fiancée, Dave Becker, of Clinton and Alyssa Cornell, of FL, five great grandchildren, Lorelei, Owen, David Jr., Derek and Dawson, a brother, Richard Cornell and wife, Sue, of AZ and two sisters-in-law, Janet Stancik, of Utica and Yvonne Cornell, of Cooperstown. Butch was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Olmstead and two brothers, Robert and Donald Cornell. Per Butch's request there are no services. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Those so wishing may make donations to the Herkimer Humane Society or an animal shelter of your choice.
