ROME - Gerard T. "Rod" Moerler, Jr., 37, of Rome, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at his home. Rod was born in Utica, NY, the son of Gerard T. Moerler and Donna Vicars. He was raised and educated locally. Rod was employed with Stark Truss in Whitesboro. He was of the Catholic faith. Rod is survived by his fiancée, Sally Baker, Rome; a daughter, Kristen Moerler, Rome; two sons, Erik and Devin Moerler, both of Rome; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Christopher and Tiffany Moerler, Frankfort, Kai Moerler, Utica; his paternal grandparents, Kai and Barbara Larsen, Brooklyn, NY. Also surviving is Sally's sister, Sandra Zamiello, Rome, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rod is predeceased by his grandmother, Gladys Leddick, and two aunts, Carol Dudek and Barbara Leddick. Rod's funeral service will be held Tuesday evening, at 7:00 pm, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville, will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Tuesday evening, from 5 - 7 pm, prior to the service.
