Donna R. Gorrell, 78, of Westmoreland, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Donna was born in Chicago, IL on August 8, 1937, a daughter of the late Wilbert and Ethel (Manchester) Schmitt. Donna married Loren (Bill) Gorrell at Ft. Bliss, TX on April 17, 1958. She had many interests and hobbies, which included being a member and past president of the Mohawk Valley PC User Group and the current editor of their newsletter. Donna was an avid artist and loved to paint landscapes with oils. In her spare time Donna enjoyed watching curling at the Utica Curling Club, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, refinishing furniture, doing all types of crafts and researching genealogies on the internet. She especially loved spending time at their summer cottage at the St. Lawrence River. Donna is survived by her beloved husband Bill, her three children, Steven L. Gorrell and wife Lois, of Westmoreland, Kathryn Welch and husband Mark, of Tarpon Springs, FL and Cheryln Gorrell, of Summerville, SC, a sister, Jeri Garb and husband Corbert, of Waukesha, WI, special friends, Dolores Pfohl, of Westmoreland and Daniel Reed, of Westmoreland and her canine companion, Honey. Mrs. Gorrell's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Westmoreland. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Wellesley Island Fire Department.
