Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis W. Kasprzyk, 88, of Yorkville passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Phyllis was born in Utica on August 31, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Wanda (Knopka) Pietruch. Phyllis married Stanley J. Kasprzyk, her high school sweetheart, on September 4, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. It was a blessed union of 64 years until his death on July 19, 2012. She was employed with the New York Telephone Company for several years until the birth of her children, who were the joy of her life. She was a very devoted mother who was always there for her children. Phyllis was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church until its closing and was a current parishioner of the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa in New York Mills. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary, Secular Franciscans, Perpetual Adoration Society of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, Heenan Spiritual Group and while at Sacred Heart she shared her lovely voice as a member of the Church choir. Mom was so special; an angel here on earth. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. What shaped her most was her immense faith in God and devotion to Mary which she has shared with us. Her faith gave her great strength in adversity. This helped her to move on from her blindness and to learn Braille and she continued to read the Bible when it was transcribed into Braille for her. Her blindness did not keep her from taking care of us. She had the sharpest memory and superhuman hearing, much to our dismay if we tried to hide something from her. She had a green thumb. There was no plant she could not save or weed that could get by her. And her love of a sweet treat was legendary. No cookie, pastry, donut, cake or ice cream was safe from her! Phyllis is survived by her eight children, Stanley Kasprzyk, Jr and wife Mania, of Kent, WA, Philip Kasprzyk and partner Daniel Sousa, of Franklin, MA, Mary Deitch, of Bothell, WA, Donald Kasprzyk and wife Deborah, of Cold Brook, Geralyn Ball and husband John, of Yorkville, John Kasprzyk and wife Amy, of Oriskany, Laurie Kasprzyk, of San Diego, CA, and Paul Kasprzyk and wife Lisa, of Yorkville, 13 grandchildren, David and wife Katie, Theresa, Samantha, Brandon, Nicole, Kory, Kirstyn, Chelsea and fiancé Ron, Kesha and husband Chris, Olivia and husband Adam, Amanda, Kaitlen and husband C.J., and Michael, three sisters, Eleanor Krawiec, of N.Y.
