Jean B. LaClaire, 90, of Utica went peacefully to the Lord on Thursday August 6, 2015. Jean was born in Utica on April 21, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Fairbrother) Blair. She received her education in the Utica School System and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Jean married William (Bill) LaClaire at Sacred Heart Church, Utica on June 7, 1947, a blessed union of over 59 years until his death on November 21, 2006. Jean began her working career with New York Telephone Co. at offices in both Utica and Geneva. Throughout the years, she also was employed at the Utica Post Office, The Savings Bank of Utica and Fanny Farmers. Jean was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Utica until its closing and a current parishioner of The Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church, the Sacred Heart Seniors and the Schuyler Seniors. In her earlier years Jean was involved with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Jean is survived by her three devoted children, Janet Davis and husband, Alan of New Hartford, Michael LaClaire of Utica and Ilion and James LaClaire and wife, Debra of Utica, six grandchildren, Laurie Burns and husband, David, Colleen Davis and husband John, Stacey LaClaire Subik and husband, Eric, Kristin LaClaire and fiancée Ryan Connell, Joseph LaClaire and Thomas LaClaire, five great grandchildren, Kate Burns, Bridget Burns, Alexa Davis, Landon Davis and Danielle Subik and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. LaClaire's funeral will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired or to the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa. The family would like to thank the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for all the loving care given to Jean.
