Ina B. Nowak, 89, of New York Mills passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the St. Luke's Home. Ina was born in Utica on January 7, 1926 a daughter of George F. and Pearl (Spotten) Nemeyer. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. Ina married Joseph T. Nowak at Holy Trinity Church, Utica in 1949 a blessed union of 36 years until his death in 1985. She was employed with Revere Copper and Brass for 40 years retiring in 1986. Ina was a life member of the VFW Malson Jones Post # 7393 Ladies Aux., New York Mills and was an active fund raiser for Americas Greatest Heart Run & Walk. In her earlier years Ina loved to go camping and travel. Ina is survived by her dear friend, John King of New York Mills, a brother, Albert Nemeyer of Detroit, MI, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dombrowski of Hinckley, and many nieces and nephews especially acknowledging Karen Nemeyer of Utica, Patrick Nemeyer of Deerfield and Bobbie Kruk of FL. Ina was predeceased by siblings Frederick Nemeyer, Georgetta Adams and Joyce Nemeyer. A funeral service for Mrs. Nowak's will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 9:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Heart Association in Ina's memory.
