Obituary of Edna Dellers Kallasy

Mrs. Edna Dellers Kallasy, 88, of Utica, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with her loving family by her side. Edna was born in Utica on June 23, 1926, the daughter of Otto and Hilda (Rimmele) Dellers. She was a 1943 graduate of Oriskany Central School and attended Utica School of Commerce. At One time, Edna was married to Anthony Zysk, Sr. On July 4, 1966, Edna married Louis (Weis) Kallasy and the couple shared a devoted union of 49 years. Edna was employed with General Electric Company and for 50 years was involved in the restaurant business. She worked in her family restaurant's which included, Venus Restaurant, Dellers Restaurant and for 42 years, along with her husband Weis, owned and operated Edna's Restaurant in Utica. Edna was a wonderful cook, enjoyed reading in her spare time and especially loved to bake. She enjoyed traveling to the casino's, especially Turning Stone with her husband. The couple took many trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Aruba. Edna often talked about her wonderful childhood memories of growing up on the family farm. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Most holidays were spent at "grandma's" house where Edna would cook for and entertain her loving family. She was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Kallasy is survived by her husband, Louis (Weis); one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Carmen Grimaldi of Whitesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Vicky Zysk of Yorkville, Tony and Sue Zysk of N. Utica and Joey and Chris Kallasy of New Hartford; one brother, Bob Dellers of Stanwicks, NY; one sister-in-law, Darlene Dellers of FL as well as 10 cherished grandchildren, 10 adored great grandchildren, 2 precious great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her step-son, Louis Kallasy, sister, Amanda Skermont, brother, Albert Dellers and sister-in-law, Joan Dellers. Mrs. Kallasy's funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica where her Mass of the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated. Her entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Children's Miracle Network in Edna's memory. Mrs. Kallasy's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, ICOU and 3rd floor, especially Leslie, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Edna.
