Mrs. Virgie L. (Spence) Alberico, 76, of N. Utica, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Virgie was born on November 14, 1938 in Hamlet, NC the daughter of James R. and Margaret L. (Wheeler) Spence, Sr. She was raised in Portsmouth, VA and received her education there. On April 29, 1957, Virgie married Ronald P. Alberico, Sr., a devoted union of 50 years until Ronald's death in 2007. For many years, She was employed with Mele Manufacturing in Utica, retiring in 2000. Virgie was of the Southern Baptist Faith. Mrs. Alberico is survived one daughter, Robyn Alberico and Michael Magee of Deerfield; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Joanne Alberico of Dinwiddie, VA, Jeff Alberico of Barneveld, NY and Robin Alberico of GA; one sister, Evelyn Pitsenbarger of Suffolk, VA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James R. Spence, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Elizabeth City, NC and Thomas E. Spence and his wife Ruby of Norfolk, VA; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Ronald P. Alberico, Jr. Mrs. Alberico's funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her burial will be in Olden Barneveld Cemetery in Trenton, NY.
