Susan A. Casamento, 59, of Utica passed away at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, with her loving family at her side. Susan was born in Utica, on November 27, 1955, the daughter of James D. and Alice M. (Manzinger) Gaffney. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Kennedy High School. In 1974, Susan was married to Philip Casamento. Susan was an avid pitch enthusiast, and enjoyed her time playing in leagues at the American Legion. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Susan is survived by a daughter and her husband, Nina and Anthony Cosamano of Marcy; two sons Vincenzo Casamento and Cindy DiChristina of Utica, and Philip and his wife, Jessica Casamento of Frankfort; three cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Filippo, and Gianni Cosamano, all of Marcy; Susan's father, James D. Gaffney of Utica; two sisters and their husbands, Linda and Carl Schrader of Marcy, and Cynthia and Clifford Symonds of New Hartford; a brother, James Gaffney and Liz Thomas of Utica; special niece and nephew, Jennifer and Carl Schrader; and several more nieces, nephews and special friends. Susan was predeceased by her mother, Alice in 1993. Memorial calling hours will be held Friday evening, April 17,2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, N. Utica. A Memorial Service, will be offered at 7:30 following visitation by the Rev . Joseph Salerno . Susan's burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
