Charles A. "Chucky" Major, 57, of Cassville, formerly of Utica, passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Chucky was born in Utica on August 22, 1957, the son of Charles A. and Mary (Alshiemer) Major. He was raised and educated in Utica, and attended Utica Free Academy. Chucky was employed with the New York State Revitalization Program. He was a member of Historic old St. John's Church in Utica. Chucky enjoyed hunting and fishing, and through the years belonged to several Fish & Game clubs, including in Trenton. He belonged to a snowmobiling club, enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, and playing golf. Chucky also enjoyed doing carpentry, especially around his house. Chucky is survived by his beloved wife, Shari Williams, Cassville; his daughter, Kelly Major, Cassville; his sons and daughter-in-law, Talen and Katie Major, Ilion, Charles Major, Utica; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Chase, Lia (Lulu), Charles, Tatianna, Anthony, Gulianna; two sisters, Michelle Major, Utica, Paulette Major, Utica; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Major (& Donna Quesnell), Utica, Ronald and Dorothy Major, Bridgewater, Carl Major (& Irene Ladlee), Utica. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special Godson, Donnie Crescenzo, Liverpool. Chucky also leaves his canine companion, "Harry" at home. He is predeceased by a sister, Kimmy Major and a brother Dan Major. Mr. Major's funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 9:15 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 am at Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4 - 8 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, Illinois 60611-3201 in Chucky's memory.
