Mrs. Lois E. Baker, 85, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, formerly of N. Utica, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Lois was born in Wilmington, DE on November 8, 1929 the daughter of Alphonse and Mae (McCardle) Masscotte. She was raised and educated in Chester, PA and was a graduate of Chester High School. On October 9, 1954, Lois married Stanley Baker. Mr. Baker died in 1970. At one time, Lois was employed with Loblaws Grocery Store and later with ConMed Corp., retiring in 1999. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating and her card club. Lois was a member and Sunday school teacher at the former St. Paul's Episcopal Church in N. Utica. Mrs. Baker is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim LaClaire of N. Utica; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Walter and Jeanette Baker of Maryland and Jeff Baker and Bonnie Colangelo of Floyd; six cherished grandchildren, Stacey Subik and her husband Eric, Kristin LaClaire and Ryan Connell, Joseph LaClaire, Thomas LaClaire, Justin Baker and Brittany Baker; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Masscotte of Delaware as well as many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Andy Anderson and his wife Durinda. She was predeceased by four sisters and six brothers. Mrs. Baker's funeral will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the Lymphoma Society in Lois' memory.
