Joyce W. Robinson, 78, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the St. Luke's Home. Joyce was born in Ilion, NY on November 20, 1936, a daughter of the late Norman and Lana (Abeling) Williams. She was a 1953 graduate of Ilion High School. Joyce married John "Jack" Robinson on November 23, 1957 at Annunciation Church in Ilion, a blessed union of 29 years until his death in 1986. For many years Joyce was employed with Verizon until her retirement in 1997. Joyce was a member of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church of Herkimer, NY. She was an avid NY Mets, NJ Devils and NY Knicks fan. Joyce received the most enjoyment from her pool parties, her annual pumpkin display and spending time with family and friends at her camp on Okara Lakes in the Adirondacks . Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. To all who knew Joyce, they will always remember a kind, caring and generous lady with a beautiful smile. She will be truly missed and never forgotten by her many friends and family. Joyce is survived by her four children, Debra Contales and husband Joseph, of Utica, Diane D'Amore, of Whitesboro, Cheryl VanSlyke and husband James, of Westmoreland and John Robinson and wife Maureen, of Deansboro, her nine grandchildren, Bryon Pecorello, Cory Cantales, Nicholas Cantales, Jessica McGovern, John Robinson, Joe D'Amore, Chelsea D'Amore, Jamie VanSlyke and Kevin VanSlyke, a brother, Clifford Williams and wife Millie, of Ilion, a sister-in-law, Carol Okusko and husband Howard, of Vernon and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by a brother Norman Williams. A funeral service for Mrs. Robinson will be held on Saturday evening, January 24, 2015 at 7:00 pm from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. A spring burial will take place in New Forest Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Joyce's memory. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to friends and neighbors who have assisted Joyce in recent years.
