Edward Mika, 67, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Edward was born in Hann, Germany on August 1, 1947, a son of the late Kazimierz and Eugenia Mika. Edward was united in marriage to Paula Kulik at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, a blessed union of 46 years. For many years until his retirement in 2006 Edward was employed with Special Metals. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in Utica and a member and past officer of the IAM Union. Ed was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time at his camp on Wolf Island in the St. Lawrence River. Edward is survived by his wife, Paula, a daughter, Heather Mika and companion, Matthew Sajdzikowski, of Utica, a son, Christopher Mika and companion, Andrea Cook, of Frankfort and her children, Olivia Cook and Ashley Hurd, two sisters, Donna Bailey Zelman, of IL and Wanda Moraniez, of TX, in-laws, Martin and Johann Kulik, of New Hartford and Mary Ann Petroski, of Cicero, NY, his best friend, Tony Leone, of Deerfield, good friends and neighbors, Michael and Cathy Quinn, of Frankfort and his canine companion, Cooper. Edward was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Alice Kulik and a brother-in-law, Ronald Kulik. Mr. Mika's funeral will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, Utica. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation in Edward's memory.
