Mr. Donald F. Norbin, 87, of N. Utica, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Donald was born in Utica on July 17, 1927, the son of Anthony and Anna (Miller) Norbin and received his education in Utica schools. On September 10, 1950 Donald married Lila B. Sherlock at St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. For many years, Donald was employed as a truck driver with various trucking companies in the Utica area, most recently with Wadsworth and Reilly Trucking Company. After retirement he worked part time driving school bus with Bernie Bus. Donald was a member of the Utica Maennerchor, a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in N. Utica and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Norbin is survived by his beloved wife, Lila; one daughter and son-in-law, Barb Norbin and Jim Edmond of Deerfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald J. and Jane Norbin of Minnesota; three cherished grandchildren, Carrie Killoran and her husband Grant of Wisconsin, Abby Norbin of Arizona and Andrew Norbin and his fiancé Michelle of Minnesota; two great grandchildren, Maggie and Owen Killoran; one sister, Dorothy Hapanowicz of Utica; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Norbin of Oklahoma; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Carl Blim of New York City as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Agnes Lindfield. Mr. Norbin's funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A Spring burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery in N. Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N.
