Alfred J. "Woody" Wood, 77, of Utica, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. Woody was born December 26, 1937 in Utica, NY, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Cave) Wood. He was raised and educated in Whitesboro. For several years, Woody worked for the Potempa family on their farm. From there, he went on to work for Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Marcy and later in Utica. On September 23, 1972, Woody married Donna Coleman in Watertown. Woody was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and hunting at Big Moose with his friends. Woody is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Wood, Utica; two daughters and a son-in-law, Irene Ladlee and her companion, Carl Major, Utica, Melissa and Vincent Hall, Utica; three children, Scott, Dolores and Deanna, and their families, all of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Cassandra and Melanie Hall, Kennedy, Claire, Ceara and Amy Ladlee, and Jesse Major; a great grandson, Deandre Priester; a sister and two brothers, Carolyn, Walter, and Robert; as well as by a family friend, Tommy Ladlee, Leonardsville. Mr. Wood's funeral services, entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, are being held privately at the convenience of the family.
