Mr. Allen P. Goppert, 56, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly at his home Allen was born in Utica on October 7, 1958 the son of Joseph J. and Helen M. (Odit) Goppert and received his education in Utica schools. Allen proudly served in the US Army and later with the Army National Guard. On August 27, 1991, Allen married Arlitha Dickenson. He was employed with the Utica Rescue Mission and PYHIL Veterans Supportive Housing Program. He was an active volunteer with the Veterans Outreach Center, a program very dear to Allen's heart. He was also a video gamer and loved animals. Mr. Goppert is survived by his wife, Arlitha; son, Luke Wharram of FL; step-daughter, Belon Baker of Utica; step-son, Rickey Dickenson of FL; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leatrice (Dave) Doolen of NE, Dawn DiNitto and Alice Zayas (Greg Mosher) all of Utica, and Tabbitha (Paul) Smith of OK; three brothers, Joseph Goppert, III, Edward Goppert, and James Goppert, and one sister-in-law, Tracey Goppert all of Utica as well as three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Hemmi Mr. Goppert's memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 2:00-4:00 prior to the memorial service.
