George Albicker lived a wonderful life, having great health, many friends - he loved being in the company of people, and had an interesting sense of humor. Upon meeting someone for the first time who would say "it's a pleasure to meet you" he might reply, "give me some time". He loved the outdoors and would spend a great deal of time in the Adirondacks, hiking and down hill skiing. He was an avid cyclist and could often be seen riding his bike to work or up Rt. 12 on his way to Kayuta. A pioneer in the health movement he participated in the first Boilermaker. George was born in Utica, NY, to George Jerome and Eleanor Edic Albicker on July 31, 1927. He was the second youngest of five, Norman, Francis, Lucille and Eleanor. He graduated from UFA High School in 1945. George enlisted in the US Navy as a seamen and brought troops back from the Pacific Theater on the USS Colorado. He was released from service with an Honorable Discharge. In 1960, he became a Real Estate Agent, becoming a licensed broker in 1961. He loved people and architecture and had an eye for the potential of properties. George continued to work up until this past September. On September 21, 1957, he married Jacquelyn Wurz, who predeceased him on October 14, 1995. Together they had five children, Valerie, Christopher, Todd, Mark, and Gillian. Grandchildren Marisabel Padron, Allegra Lee, Maya and Sky Davis, Maximillan Albicker, Dylan and Corrine Albicker and a great granddaughter Aurora Bovincino. He kept up with the young crowd and could relate to people of all ages. He loved his sisters and missed his brothers who predeceased him. He spent treasured times at Kayuta Lake with his sister Eleanor Corrigan and his brother-in-law William Corrigan, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. His sister Lucille and his brother-in-law William Falk were also close friends. Lucille worked with George for many years behind the scenes of Albicker Real Estate. He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. George was a social person, comfortable in any setting. He would often say "you have to keep an open mind". He was a man who shared his mind freely and lived his life individually. Thank you George for sharing yourself in so many ways, your energy will be missed. Join us in remembering him Friday, November 21. Family and close friends will hold a service for him starting 12:30 at the Barneveld Unitarian Church.
