Donald A. Clark, Sr., 96, passed away at the Siegenthaler Center on Sunday, November 2, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Donald was born on December 31, 1917 in Utica, NY. He was the son of the late Howard and Frances (Avey) Clark. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1936. Donald married his only love, Mildred R. Liebhaber, on November 14, 1942, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, NY. They were married by his brother, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Richard A. Clark. Theirs was a blessed and loving union for 62 years until Mildred's passing on December 30, 2003. Donald worked for Swift and Co. for 32 years. He started his own business in 1970, Clarpor Poultry Co., Inc. He retired in 1985. He was a communicant of the former Blessed Sacrament Church for 57 years until its closing, where he served as a trustee for 25 years, lector for 30 years, altar server, money counter and Hope Appeal worker. He was a founding member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society where he served as President for 6 terms. He was a member of the Perpetual Adoration of St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 74 years. Don enjoyed tennis, fishing, bowling and golf, which became the sport he enjoyed the most, playing until the age of 93. Don was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who will be greatly missed. Don is survived by his ten children and their spouses; Kathleen M. Clark (Suzzanne Rosselot), Donald A. Clark Jr., Richard A. Clark, Mary R. (David) Hubbell, Theresa A. Clark, Patrick J. (Donna) Clark, Timothy M. (Becky) Clark, Eileen M. Clark, Shawn G. (Marian) Clark and Maureen E. Clark (Paul Madden). Don also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-law Doris Potaczala. Besides his loving wife Mildred and parents, Don was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Mary Clark, Helen (Greg) Hoffman, Howard (Martha) Clark, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Richard A. Clark, Frances (Bud) Hunzinger and several nieces and nephews. Don would also like to thank his special friends, Carol Wendler and his Thursday Rosary Group, Don Debbold, his golfing partner, Noreen Hopsicker and family, the Cromp family, his special cousin John (Mary Jeanne) Humphrey, his godson, Bob Corr, Rob (Yvette) Piper and the Hospice Staff of the Siegenthaler Center who cared for him in the end. Dad wished to thank everyone who helped make his life a great adventure. In Dad's word's: "I've had a good life." Mr. Clark's funeral service will be held on Saturday November 8, 2014 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. Utica and at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 - 7. Don asked that you remember him with Mass cards at St. John the Evangelist Church or donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Siegenthaler Center in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:30.
