Rosemarie B. Dinger, 96, a resident of the Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Syracuse, formerly of Utica, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the home. Rosemarie was born February 28, 1918, in Utica, the daughter of Fredolin and Mary (Weinberger) Pabst. She was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Utica Free Academy. On July 10, 1940, Rosemarie married Max R. Dinger in St. Joseph's Church, Utica, sharing a union of 64 years, until his passing in 2005. She had been employed with the New York Telephone Company, the Utica State Hospital Employee Federal Credit Union and the Savings Bank of Utica, from where she retired. She was the oldest living member of the Utica Maennerchor, a German organization which provided many years of enjoyment and lifelong friends for her and her husband. Rosemarie is survived by her daughter, Lesa Garafalo, Lafayette, NY; a granddaughter and her husband, Kimberly and Larry Mathews and a great-granddaughter, Chrissy, all from Liverpool, NY. Also surviving are two nieces, Johanna Prong (& Bob), and Heidi Marko (& Mike); two nephews, Richard Scholl (& Sue), and Kurt Scholl (& Shannon) and their families. Rosemarie was predeceased by her grandson, Jason Garafalo, in December of 2013. Mrs. Dinger's funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1 pm at the Heintz funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, with Rev. Richard Dellos presiding. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 am - 1 pm, prior to the funeral service.
