Victoria B. Sycylo, 90, of Utica, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Victoria was born August 23, 1924 in Utica, the daughter of John and Sophie Swiecki. She was raised and educated locally. On May 25, 1946, Victoria married Walter J. Sycylo in St. Stanislaus Church in Utica. Mr. Sycylo passed away in 1985. Victoria was employed for many years with St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel / Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica. Victoria's favorite thing to do was spend her time with her family. Victoria is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Mahar, Utica, Barbara Sycylo, Whitesboro, Nadine and Michael Guarno, Deerfield; ten grandchildren, Kristin Mahar, Shawn Mahar, Arron Mahar, Dina (& Joshua) Angotti, Lisa (& Brad) Kopie, Mary Orsaio, Jonelle Orsaio, Shawnna (& Chris) Champion, Adam Guarno, and Brandon Guarno. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by four brothers. Mrs. Sycylo's funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 1 pm at St. Mary of Mount Carmel / Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place privately in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
