Robert A. Voce, 76, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Presbyterian Home with the love and support of his family at his side. Robert was born in Utica on May 28, 1938, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Ransom) Voce. He was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. Robert was an Army Veteran from 1956 - 1960, serving in Korea. On October 5, 1990, Bob married Dorothy Folds with whom he shared 24 years. For many years Bob was employed as a machinist at Bendix Corp. in Utica. Bob owned and operated the Oval Restaurant and Bar on Court St. His outgoing personality was the success of his business. After the sale of his business, Bob continued to work in other local establishments. Bob was a member of the DAV, American Legion Post #229 of Utica and the Eagles. Bob was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, cooking, gardening and "donating" to the casino. Bob had a kind and caring soul. He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He will greatly missed by all. Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter, Gina Cromer and her fiancee, Doug Marasco, a very special grandson, Stephen Cromer, AZ, a stepdaughter, Charlotte Robinson and her son Mark Niles Robinson, two brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Virginia) Voce, Utica and Donald (Lana) Voce, Syracuse, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane (John) Townsend, TX and Maureen (John) Prumo, Marcy, two sisters-in-law, Joan Voce, Whitesboro, and Edith Bartlett, a brother-in-law, William True Sr., Utica and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was blessed with many true, life-long and fun-loving friends. He was an amazingly awesome person that was loved by everyone. Bob was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters-in law, Joseph (Frances) Voce, William (Jean) Voce and Eugene Voce and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frances (Harry) Kates, Gertrude True and Regina (Howard) Jessmore. Mr. Voce's funeral will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 10:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 6. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of the Birch Unit of the Presbyterian Home for their kindness and compassion.
