Jack Linder, 94, passed away at his home, on September 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family . Jack was born in Whitesboro, NY, on January 13,1920, the son of George and Clara (Vaeth) Linder. He was raised and educated in Whitesboro. Jack was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Coast Guard from 1942-1944. At St. Joseph's Church, Utica on August 25, 1945, Jack was married to Jane F. Snyder, a blessed union of almost 70 years. With 37 years of service, Jack was employed with the New York Telephone Co, retiring in 1982. Jack's many memberships included St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, the Perpetual Adoration Society at St. Joseph and St Patrick's, the Telephone Pioneers, the Utica Maennerchor, the Knights of Columbus Counsel # 189, the Salvation Army serving as a bell ringer for the Red Kettle Campaign, the Whitesboro American Legion Post 1113, and a volunteer at the Americas Greatest Heart Run and Walk. Jane would like to express her love and thanks to her children for all the help and care they provided to their dad and her during Jack's illness. Jack is survived by his wife, Jane; two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Bob Emery, Marcy, Judith and George Lesniak , Pittsford, NY; a son and wife, Gary and Toni Linder, Oneida,NY; grandchildren, Mike and Kate Emery, Deborah and Steve Sabella, Kathaleen Emery, Lisa and Rob Garrison, Barbara and Aric Vickrey, Aaron and Sarah Linder, Briana, Evan, and Alaina Linder; and great grandchildren, Alyssa and Grace Vickrey, Sydney, Hailey, and Ella Garrison, and Madelyn and Claire Linder. Jack also leaves a brother, Richard and his wife Estelle Linder of Florida. Jack was predeceased by three sisters, Genevieve Miles, Dorothy Guckemus, and Betty Hickey. The family would like to make a special thank you to Jack's "special visitors", Fr. O'Neil, Fr. Dellos , Dr. Roger and Mary Breslow, Ted Kogut, Ed Rankin, Gail LeBuis, Terry and Cookie Dote, and Eva and Lil Hajec . Also thanks to all the wonderful care givers ; Bridget Arquette NP and the staff at ACP Whitesboro, and to all the staff and Angels at Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Irene. Mr. Linder's funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday (today) from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory would be appreciated to the Utica Maennerchor or Hospice and Palliative Care . Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
