Olga C. Pietrafesa, 90 a resident of St. Joseph Nursing Home, Utica, formerly of North Utica, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Olga was born in New York City on February 1, 1924 the daughter of Fritz G. and Johanna C. (Albertsen) Peterson. She received her education in Locust Valley, Long Island and later earned an associate's degree on Long Island. On August 19, 1951, Olga married Daniel Pietrafesa in Glen Cove, NY a devoted union of 50 years until Daniel's death in 2001. For a number of years, until her retirement, Olga was employed with General Electric Company. Olga was a girl scout and cub scout leader, a religious education teacher, a member of the Carmelite Guild of St. Joseph Nursing Home and a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and floral arranging. Olga was a real people person who enjoyed socializing with her many friends and spending time with her beloved family. Mrs. Pietrafesa is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Nina Pietrafesa of Little Falls, Christina Pietrafesa of Buffalo, and Barbara and John Foppes of Westmoreland; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Gail Pietrafesa of Delmar, NY; three cherished grandchildren, David Pietrafesa and his wife Alyson of W. Sand Lake, NY, Jonathan Pietrafesa and his wife Erica of Malta, NY and Emily Marsh and her husband Christopher of Delmar, NY and three adored great granddaughters , Gianna, Hailey and Olivia Pietrafesa all of W. Sand Lake, NY. She was predeceased by one brother, John Peterson. Mrs. Pietrafesa's funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, N. Utica and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in N. Utica where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Stevens-Swan Humane society or the Carmelite Guild and residents at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Olga's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Pietrafesa's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff on the 2nd and 3rd floors at St. Joseph Nursing Home for the compassionate care you provided to Olga.
