Eileen M. Philo, 85, of Remsen and formerly of Mathews Ave., Utica passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Siegenthaler Center. Eileen was born in Utica on August 20, 1929 a daughter of Charles and Margaret (Kenefict) Collea. Eileen married Thomas W. Philo on September 13, 1952 at St. John's Church, Utica, a blessed union of 43 years until his death in 1995. For many years she was employed as a teacher's aide at Kernan School in Utica. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford. Eileen is survived by her five children, Colleen Zielinski and husband David, FL, Mary Beth Max, Saratoga, NY, Timothy Philo and wife Deborah, Buffalo, NY, Patricia McMurdy and husband Thomas, MS and Eileen Luley and husband Donald, Remsen, a brother, Jerome Collea and wife Joyce, Utica, sisters-in-law, Mary Lou DiSalvo, Utica, Marilyn Miner, Whitesboro, Maryanne Collea, Utica and Jeanne Collea, Utica. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by 10 siblings and spouses, Joseph and Ruth Collea, Margaret and Gridley Julian, Ethel and Frank Gaetano, Victoria and John Devins, John Collea, Charles and Carol Collea, James Collea, Frank Collea, Robert Collea and Catherine and William Grimmer. Mrs. Philo's funeral will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Siegenthaler Center in Eileen's memory.
