Valentine J. Zarnoch, 93, of Marcy passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his loving family by his side. Valentine was born in New York Mills on February 16, 1921 a son of Walter and Mary (Gwara) Zarnoch and received his education in the local schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Valentine married Grace E. Wilcox on May 31, 1947 a blessed union of 65 years until her death on December 10, 2012. For many years until his retirement Valentine was employed with the Carpenters Union Local #120. He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, North Utica. Throughout his life Valentine enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, riding his three wheeler, telling stories of the old days and babysitting all of his grandchildren. Valentine is survived by his three children, Marilyn E. Cyr and husband Ronald of Marcy, Valerie A. Pearl and husband Kermit of Marcy and Valentine J. Zarnoch, Jr. and wife Rosemary of Clinton, five grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Ronald J. Cyr and wife Lisa, Martin J. Cyr and wife, Athena, Jared A. Pearl, Shannon G. Arroyo, and Justin J. Zarnoch, six great grandchildren, Mersadies G. Arroyo, Arysely S. Acevedo, Roberto L. Acevedo, Jr., Danielle R. Cyr, Jacob M. Cyr and Lila G. Cyr, a favorite nephew, Martin Zarnoch, and his hunting and fishing buddy, Tom Deppmeyer. He was predeceased by two sisters, Millie Olender and Stephanie Kowalczyk and five brothers, Walter, Stanley, William, Benny and Robert . Mr. Zarnoch's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 12:00 Noon from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Entombment will take place in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mark's Church in Valentine's memory.
