Bernadette Agnes "Bernie" Humphrey, 63, a resident of the Sitrin Gan Kavod Birch, formerly of New York Mills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Bernie was born on September 17, 1950, the daughter of Maurice and Bernadette (Rosbrook) Humphrey. Bernie attended ARC Day Treatment program in Washington mills as one of their original clients, later attended Arnold Ave., ARC Day Treatment program and received a 25 year award for participation and attendance in May of 2006. Bernie resided at Curry IRA in New Hartford under the UCP program and was currently residing at Sitrin Gan Kavod (Garden of Honor) and active in the adult day program at Sitrin HCC. Bernie's favorite things included "I Love Lucy" reruns, dancing and music, Mashed potatoes, chocolate ice cream, ARC summer camp, Lawrence Welk shows, having her nails done, taking long car rides, and a good cold beer. She had many friends and care givers who provided her with love and support, ensuring her an enjoyable quality of life. The family is very grateful to those who have supported Bernie on her life journey. A special thanks to Missy, Dolly, and Cassie and all the staff at Gan Kavod who assisted Bernie in her final days. You have reserved your places in Heaven. Survivors include: Aunt Margaret Z. Rosbrook, guardians and cousins, Gail Rosbrook Gorczynski and Linda Rosbrook Evans and many cousins who enjoyed Bernie's company through the years. Calling hours for family and friends are going to be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated following calling hours at 11:30 p.m. at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Burrstone Rd., New Hartford. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers, Bernie's parents have requested that donations be sent to ARC Day Treatment, Arnold Ave, Utica, NY. Bernie's family also suggest donations may be considered for her former residence at CURRY IRA in New Hartford or Gan Kavod Birch-Sitrin campus. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. As Bernie often said "Life is Good!"
