Rose Marie Nunno Crescenzo, 72, of the Presbyterian Home passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Rose was born in Utica on January 29, 1942 a daughter of Leonard A. and Amelia (D'Amelio) Nunno, Sr. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. Rose married Nicholas Crescenzo at Sacred Heart Church on July 10, 1965. For many years she was employed with St. Luke's Hospital then later with the Eastern Star Home. Rose was devoted to her religion. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica and was a lector and religious education teacher at the church. Family was the center of her life. Being part of a big family she cherished the time spent with her brothers, sisters and their families. Most important to Rose was the love and dedication of her husband and children. She lovingly cared for them through the years as only a wife and mother can. The light of Rose's life was her special "little" granddaughter, Josephine, whom Rose just adored. Rose is survived by her husband, Nicholas, three sons, Peter Crescenzo of Schuyler, Vincent and wife Joelle Crescenzo of N. Utica and Stephen Crescenzo of Boston, MA, a beloved granddaughter, Josephine Crescenzo of N. Utica, a sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Robert Johnson, FL a brother and sister-in-law, Gino and Beatrice Nunno, New Hartford, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dominick and Marlene Crescenzo of Chadwicks and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lourdes and brothers and sisters, Teresa (Tess) Nunno, Carmen Nunno, Josephine Caldwell, Leonard Nunno, Jr., Vittrino (Victor) Nunno, Umberto (Rocky) Nunno, and Lucretia Crouse. Mrs. Crescenzo's funeral will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 9:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Birch Unit of the Presbyterian Home and the staff of the Saul Unit of the Lutheran Care for all the loving care given to Rose.
