Alma K. Vogel, 89, of Utica passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Pines of Utica. Alma was born in Hauenstein, Germany on January 31, 1925, a daughter of Ludwig and Katharina (Erhardt) Cronauer and came to the United States as a young girl. Alma married Alois Vogel at St. Joseph's Church, Utica on February 9, 1946 a blessed union of 63 years until his death on October 5, 2009. At one time Alma was employed with First Bank & Trust Co., Marine Midland Bank then until her retirement Citi Bank. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Alma is survived by her two children and their spouses, Patricia and husband James Hamer, Sr., of New Hartford and Richard and wife Malinda Vogel of Yorkville, three grandchildren, Gunnery Sergeant Dennis Dougherty Jr., and wife Amy of MD, Pamela Vogel of Manhattan and Katharina Vogel of Yorkville, five great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Elizabeth, Abigail and Lily, and a goddaughter, Roslynn Fluty of FL. Alma was predeceased by a brother, Bert Cronauer. Mrs. Vogel's funeral will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
