Mrs. Theresa Marie (Middel) Lastowicka, 86, a resident of the Rome Hospital Nursing Home, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Theresa was born in Utica on September 10, 1927 the daughter of Alfred and Agnes (Dolphin) Middel. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On July 17, 1967, Theresa married Andrew Lastowicka at St. Michael's Ukrainian Church in Rome. At one time, Theresa was employed as a sales representative with Stanley Home Products of Massachusetts and also work with Rome Development Center. She was a parishioner of St. Leo's-St. Anne's Church in Holland Patent and enjoyed tending to her flower garden. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and truly loved raising her children and spending time with her family. Mrs. Lastowicka is survived by her loving husband, Andrew; one daughter, Denise DePasquale of Holland Patent; one son, Mark Lastowicka of Boston, MA; one cherished granddaughter, Emily DePasquale of Holland Patent; one sister-in-law, Anna Kirk of West Edmeston, NY; two brothers-in-law, Peter Lastowicka and his wife Beatrice of Verona and Mike Lastowicka and his wife Violet of Holland Patent as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Middel. Mrs. Lastowicka's funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A spring burial will be held in Floyd Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 prior to the funeral Service.
