Mr. Stanley John Swalgin, Jr., 96, a resident of the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, formerly of Utica, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the nursing home. Stanley was born in Utica on July 3, 1917, the son of Stanley J. and Mary (Jerominek) Swalgin and received his education in Utica schools. On August 21, 1937, Stanley married Sophie R. Bochniak at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. He was a member of the Carpenters Union in Utica and enjoyed wood crafting, hunting, fishing and polka dancing. Mr. Swalgin is survived by his son, Richard Swalgin and his wife Rose of Clinton; grandson, Steven Swalgin of Deansboro; granddaughter, Jacquelyn Irene Fouse and her husband Michael Scott McLean of McKeesport, PA; great granddaughter, Sera Swalgin and one brother, Carl Swalgin, a resident of St. Joseph Nursing Home in Utica. He was predeceased by his wife, Sophie; daughter, Irene Fouse; brother, Edward Swalgin and sisters, Stella Rodziewicz and Gladys Misiaszek. Mr. Swalgin's funeral service and burial in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Kirkland will be held at the convenience of his family.
