She was born on August 28, 1921 in Utica, NY, the daughter of Herbert Louis and Emma Augusta (Da Brunz) Dignan. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. She married the love of her life, Edward V. Buckley, on September 10, 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Clinton, NY. They enjoyed sixty-three years of married life. Edward passed away in March of 2013. She worked for the New York Telephone Company, St. Mary's School as its secretary and librarian, and retired from Hamilton College Library.
