Obituary of Julianna M. Hoffman

Mrs. Julianna M. Hoffman, 92, a resident of the Maplewood Nursing Home in New Hampshire, formerly of Sulzer Pl., Utica, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the nursing home. Julianna was born in Utica on February 27, 1921 the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Przybylski) Mitchell. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a member of the first graduating class at Proctor High School. In February 1943, Julianna married Henry (Red) A. Hoffman, a devoted union of 56 years until Henry's death in 1999. For 21 years, Julianna was employed as the office manager with the City of Utica Assessor's office, retiring on 1980. She was a member of the former St. George's Church in Utica, the Volunteer Club at St. George's Church and the West Utica Senior Center. She was also an avid bowler. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and John Adams of Park City, UT; son and daughter-in-law, Michael P. and Cheryl Hoffman of Walpole, NH; five grandchildren, Ian Adams and his wife Alison of Salt Lake City, UT, Gwynne Freeman and her husband Parish of Emigration Canyon, UT, Lauren Brassell and her husband Stephen of Boise, ID, Robin L'Etoile and her husband Jacob of Northfield, MA and Kelly Hoffman of Walpole, NH; eight great grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Kate Adams, Addie and Tre Freeman, Faye Brassell and Hugh and Edith L'Etoile; one sister, Jean Robertson of Whittier, CA as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters, Elizabeth Mitchell, Mary Borys, Cecelia Mitchell, Charlotte Mitchell and Helen Knudsen and one brother, Raymond Mitchell. Mrs. Hoffman's funeral will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. George's Cemetery in Whitesboro.
