Mr. Lawrence A. Percacciante, Sr., 89, a resident of the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford, formerly of Whitestown and NY Mills, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the nursing Home. Lawrence was born in Yorkville, NY on August 31, 1924, the son of Anthony and Margaret (DiPerro) Percacciante. He was raised locally, attended Sacred Heart grade school and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. Lawrence proudly served in the US Navy during WW II. On April 24, 1948, Lawrence married Catherine Panaro at St. Agnes Church in Utica, a devoted union of 41 years, until Catherine's death in 1989. For over 50 years, Larry was employed with the Carpenters Union local #120. He was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Utica and was a horse racing enthusiast who enjoyed spending time at Vernon Downs Race Track. Mr. Percacciante is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Gilbert of Utica, Catherine and Patrick Tarkowski of Utica, Janet Litz of FL and Sandi and Michael Schachtler of Whitesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence II and Deborah Percacciante of Utica; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Craig, David, Gary, Curtis, Kaytie, Mary, Patrick, Sherri, Marie and Bonnie as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Calenda and a son-in-law, Earl Gilbert. Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service, with military honors, on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Oneida St., Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
