SCHUYLER - Anthony G. "Tony" Siringo, 88, of Schuyler, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, while at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. Tony was born April 4, 1925 in Utica, the son of Antonio and Rosaria (Messina) Siringo. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Proctor High School. On September 11, 1948, Tony married Margaret Cacozza at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Utica. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Siringo, Schuyler; daughter, Celeste Siringo, Rochester; son and daughter-in-law, David and Patricia Siringo, Croghan, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Joseph Leone, Utica; sister-in-law, Beverly Siringo, Rome; brother-in-law and his wife, John "Jack" and Marlene Cacozza, PA; as well as by 10 nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Al Candido, Sr. Tony is predeceased by three brothers, Louis, John, and Albert Siringo. Tony enjoyed a long career at many fine-dining establishments, including the Consort Inn, retiring in 1990. After retirement, he cooked at the Cedar Lake Country Club as well as the Castlewood Café in Waterville. Tony greatly enjoyed making gourmet dinners for his family and friends. He proudly served on the Board of Advisors for the culinary program at Mohawk Valley Community College, and was a founding member of the Deerslayer Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. Tony was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, and a past member of the Knights of St. John, Commandery 385, and the Sons of Italy Lodge 2054. Mr. Siringo's funeral and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica. Private entombment in Calvary Mausoleum will take place at the convenience of the family. (It was Tony's wish that there be no public visitation.) In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, the St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Memorial Fund, or to the Scholarship Fund of the American Academy of Chefs, 180 Center Place Way, St. Augustine, FL 32095. The family thanks the entire staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, especially Diane Hilton, Amanda, Ashley, Bert, and Alice for the care and compassion to both Tony and his family during his stay. Thanks also to special nieces Annarose, Donna and Gemma for their love and support. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, North Utica.
