Obituary of Mary C. Kennedy

Mrs. Mary C. Kennedy, 79, of New Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Utica, on July 6, 1934, the daughter of Donald and Veronica (Berry) Ross. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On October 14, 1972, Mary married James Kennedy at Westminster Presbyterian Church, a devoted union of 38 years until James' death in 2010. For many years until her retirement, she was employed as secretary to the vice-president at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company. After retirement, she went to work with New Hartford Town Court, a job she truly loved. She will always treasure her time working for Judge James VanSlyke and with her co-workers Donna and Ann Rose. Mary enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was a very religious woman of the Presbyterian faith. Mrs. Kennedy is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen and Drew Barlow of New Hartford and Kristyne Marks of New Hartford; one son; seven cherished grandchildren, Sarah Mulvihill and her husband Jason Remington, Melissa Marks, Samantha McCartney and her husband Sean, Lexi Marks, Jessica Myers, Jesse Myers and his wife Alison and Richard Sabo; 3 adored great grandchildren, Shayne, Chase and Elijah; a special nephew, Chucky Ross as well as her Canine companion Tyson and feline companion, Minnie. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Myers. A memorial service for Mrs. Kennedy will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford NY 13413 or Spring Farm CARES, 3364 Route 12, Clinton, NY 13323 in Mary's memory. Mrs. Kennedy's family extends their deep appreciation to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonder care and compassion you provided to Mary.
