Everett W. Smith, Jr., 64, of Utica passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Everett was born in Rome, NY on August 4, 1949 a son of the late Everett and Eleanora (Colp) Smith Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Rome Free Academy. For many years he was employed with the Bernie Bus Co. Everett was a true New York sports fan his favorites being the Yankees, Giants and Rangers. He also enjoyed fishing and in his younger years coached his children's baseball teams. The most important thing in Everett's life was his family especially the holidays. Everett is survived by the love of his life of 27 years, Michele Raiano, his 4 children, Everett W. Smith, III and companion, Jessica Nolan, Rome, Danielle and Jason Silipo, Sr., Rome, Adam R. Smith, Oriskany and Ryan D. Smith and Erica Chaparro, Oriskany, 5 grandchildren, Robert Gerling, Aaron Nowak, Amber Smith, Alex Smith, Jason Silipo, Jr.. a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Phillip Roman, New Hartford, 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Pamela Smith, Gene and Marie VanEtten, FL, Edward and Nancy VanEtten, Rome, 2 nephews, Todd VanEtten and Little Gene VanEtten, a niece, Kristen Kendall and several cousins. Everett is also survived by Michele's family, Joan DesJardins, Yorkville who he considered as his mother, and Lisa and Laurie Raiano, Frankfort and Jill (Doop) and Jason Jassak, Yorkville. He was predeceased by his godson, Sean Brosseau. A funeral service for Mr. Smith will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:00 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday evening from 6-8.
