Obituary of Paul J. Barnoskie

Paul J. Barnoskie, Sr., 89, of North Utica passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Paul was born in DuBois, PA on July 6, 1924 a son of Peter and Mary (Androlonis) Barnoskie. He was a graduate of Bucknell University and later received a Masters Degree from RPI. Paul was a bombardier in the US Army during World War II and earned military decorations. On a mission over Germany, Paul's' plane was shot down and he was placed in a prisoner of war camp for three months. At Holy Trinity Church in Nanticoke, PA on January 5, 1946 Paul married Lillian Koscinski. For 30+ years until his retirement he was employed with the General Electric Co. He was a parishioner and usher of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica and a member of American Legion Post #229. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved hunting, walleye fishing on Oneida Lake and flower gardening. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian, his six children and their spouses, Susan and Richard Simard, FL, Christine and Will Wafford, CA, Donna and John Alexin, OK, Lillian and Stanley Ziarko, New York Mills, NY, Paul and Donna Barnoskie, Jr., Rochester, NY, and Lisa and Mike Flo, Westmoreland, NY, 12 grandchildren and spouses, Richard John and Jenn Simard, Sara and Jamie Bakert, Matthew Wafford, Marika and Jeff Forbes, Robert and Carrie Alexin, Mark and Blair Alexin, Eileen and Gordon Elwell, Jason and Jenna Ziarko, Kyle Barnoskie, Kurt Barnoskie, Michael Flo and Marissa Flo, and several great grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by a grandson, Steven Simard, 2 sisters, Mary Kawcenski and Margaret Bogdon and a brother, Joseph Barnoskie. Mr. Barnoskie's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 9:30 from St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to St. Peter's Church in Paul's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Barton West of the St. Luke's Home for all the loving care given to Paul.
