Robert F. Lafferty, 92, of the Presbyterian Home passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Robert was born in Watertown, NY on September 17, 1921 a son of William and Theodora (Martin) Lafferty. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. Robert was an Army Veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre. At Holy Trinity Church, Utica on April 23, 1949 Robert was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Zdeb a blessed union of 59 years until her death on November 18, 2008. For 28 years until his retirement in 1978 Robert was employed with the West End Brewing Co. During his time there one of the jobs he thoroughly enjoyed was bartending at the 1888 Tour Center Bar. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church. Robert was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with them. He enjoyed watching all sports but above all was a true Yankee fan. Robert is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Serviss, New Hartford, and Christine and Stanley Bradbury, Oakland, CA, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Robert and Deana Lafferty, Marcy, six grandchildren, Krista Kozlowski and husband Richard, Yorkville, Michael Serviss and fiancée Bethan Maher, Utica, Charles Lafferty and Colin Lafferty, both of Marcy, Alec Bradbury and Aaron Bradbury, both of CA, a great granddaughter, Margaret Patricia Kozlowski. a sister, Muriel Lafferty, New Hartford, two brothers, William Lafferty, New Hartford and James Lafferty, OH, a sister-in-law, Beverly Zdeb, Utica and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lafferty's funeral will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 12:00 from St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday (Today) from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the St. Marianne Soup Kitchen in Robert's memory.
