Mrs. Roberta N. Schaal, 90, a resident of the Pines at Utica Nursing Home, formerly of Deerfield, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the nursing home with her loving daughter and son-in-law by her side. Roberta was born in Utica on November 23, 1922, the daughter of Robert and Lula (Kishell) Neary. She was raised locally and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. On July 13, 1946, Roberta married Robert F. Schaal at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, a devoted union of 62 years until Roberts death in 2008. For a number of years until her retirement, Roberta was employed with Mounser Insurance Agency in Whitesboro. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. Mrs. Schaal is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dex Watson of Whitesboro; two grandchildren, Gregory Watson and his wife Dana of Charlotte, NC and Lori Marples and her husband Don of Stafford, VA; one sister, Lucille Graf of Yorkville as well as seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Schaal's funeral will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 422 Coventry Ave., N. Utica. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. There are no public calling hours.
