Rose A. Russo, 89, passed away with her family at her bedside on September 8, 2013. Rose was born in Utica on January 5, 1924, the daughter of Giovanni and Francesca (Noti) Leone. She attended Utica schools, including Proctor High School. Rose married Santo P. Russo on July 7, 1945. Santo passed away on January 26, 1995. Rose and Santo attended Historic St. John's Church in Utica for many years. Rose's loving son, Jim, cared for her in recent years. "Everywhere Jimmy went, he took Rosie with him." Rose's family was her main interest. She enjoyed cooking for her family on Sundays and holidays. Rose's kindness and beautiful smile will certainly be missed. Rose is survived by her three sons, John and his significant other, Kathryne Boltz, Robert and his wife Kathleen, and James, all of Utica. She also leaves four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her brothers, Vito, Frank, and James Leone, and two sisters, Marie and Josephine. A funeral service for Rose will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum,. There are no calling hours.
