Jessie Lynn Bushley, 23, of Rome, formerly of Utica, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 after a courageous battle with Batten Disease. Jessie Lynn was born in Utica on August 12, 1990, the daughter of Carol Bushley. At the age of eight, she was diagnosed with Batten disease, of which she battled the rest of her life. Jessie Lynn was of the Catholic faith. Jessie Lynn is survived by her mother, Carol Williams, Syracuse; one sister, Amanda Bushley, Syracuse; one brother, Lennon Smith, Ilion; her grandmother, Mary Bushley, New Hartford; her grandfather, Raymond Bushley, Sr., Utica; her step-father (and his loving family), Gerald Smith, Ilion; aunts and uncles, Tammy and Eric Rivers, Ava, NY, Raymond, Jr. and Erica Bushley; her great aunt, Gail Hill, Whitesboro, as well as many great aunts and great uncles and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held for Jessie Lynn on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Inurnment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica. Those wishing may donate to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA), 166 Humphries Dr., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. The family would like to thank Jessie Lynn's UCP family for their care and support as well as to Jessie Lynn's great aunt, Gail Hill, for always being there for Jessie Lynn and her grandmother, Mary, whenever she was needed.
